CHAPTER 10
Introduction
Objectives
In Part Three, we address two important questions of logistics management: How well are our logistics activities performing? What actions, if any, do we need to initiate to improve performance to better meet our goals? The first question relates to monitoring logistics performance, while the second addresses whether control is needed and, if so, what steps to take. Metrics are used to monitor and track performance, and then these can be compared with our goals. It is critical that a select set of metrics be chosen that best reflect our logistics operations and what we seek to accomplish. Here, we consider ways of organizing and selecting logistics metrics to best meet the needs of an organization.
