Apart from major server functions such as web, mail, and file sharing, Mac OS X Server offers a long list of other services that you can make available to users on your network. All of these are, as you might expect, covered in great detail in PDF documentation that you can download free from Apple at www.apple.com/server/macosx/resources/documentation.html.

In this final chapter, I offer some brief guidance on security settings for a potpourri of other Mac OS X Server features. I begin with the firewall, which can protect not only the server itself but other Macs on your network, and then move on to the VPN server, which enables you to offer remote users a way to connect securely to your network. I then provide a quick overview of several other server features, including iCal, iChat, and Address Book servers.
