I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
CHAPTER 5THE SCIENTISTEnjoy the Intellectual Challenges
If you think of business as a giant laboratory, then you’ll recognize the Scientist as the person in charge of the experiments. Rather than experiment with test tubes and chemicals, this manager relies on management theories and concepts. In my experience working for the Scientist, I noticed that he seemed most happy when he was putting a favored leadership or management theory into practice or testing a new theory of his own devising. When I worked for him, I felt I was working for someone who had a brilliant if somewhat academic grasp of the way business functioned.
