So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Dominator Tree
A Dominator Tree is something like a transformation of a known reference tree. The name Dominator Tree was chosen because if, for example, object X holds object a, then object X dominates a. A Dominator Tree allows you to easily identify the biggest chunks of retained memory. The Dominator Tree has important properties:
- If X is the immediate dominator of a, then the immediate dominator of X also dominates a, and so on
- All objects that are dominated by X represent a retained set of X
- A Dominator Tree doesn't directly correspond to a reference tree
