The following are the principal resource materials consulted by the author.
- A.R.French, Newtonian Mechanics, W.W.Norton & Company, New York (1971). Prof. French has explained in fine details the basic principles of mechanics with excellent examples. Of particular significance are his discussion of tidal forces and the mechanism of a gyroscope. His accounts of the history of the early path finders of physics is one of the great features of this book. Much of the accounts of the A Brief History of Gravitation given in Chapter 6 has been borrowed from this book.
