²There are other forces that depend on velocity of the particle on which the force is acting. The most common example is the friction force acting an object moving through a fluid. On such an object a friction force, often called Drag, is caused due to the vicosity of the fluid. This drag force D can be proportional to the velocity of the object if the velocity is small, or can be proportional to the square of the velocity if the velocity is large. The magnetic force on an electrically charged particle is another example. This force is proportional to the velocity of the particle.
