Message- and Event-Driven Systems with CQRS and Event Sourcing: Web and Cloud Architecture
by Alex Lawrence
Chapter 5. CQRS
The first four chapters cover essential concepts of building a message-driven system in combination with a domain-driven approach. Individual system parts are integrated in a loosely coupled way through asynchronous and reliable high-level message exchange. Within each conceptual boundary, the business logic is isolated from infrastructural concerns and external actors by applying a fitting architecture. Every distinct domain model can be implemented using tactical building blocks, and consistency boundaries are designed explicitly. Altogether, these concepts represent a strong technical foundation that can be applied to any software. This chapter focuses on an advanced architectural pattern that builds upon this foundation.
