It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 8. Evolution of Messages and Message Streams
The different categories of messages in a message-driven system enable various communication modes and processing functionalities. Commands, queries, and responses facilitate one-to-one communication, while events are used to inform about past occurrences. On top of that, selected event categories can serve as facts in persistent streams, such as when applying Event Sourcing. Independent of a category, every message adheres to an agreed-upon type-specific structure. The description of this structure may be expressed as an externalized schema and as specialized types in the source code.
