380 UHF AND MICROWAVE RECEIVERS
When Harry Helms (author of All About Ham Radio and the Shortwave Lis-
tener's Guide) did comparisons of basic spur/noise levels on several high-quality
receivers, including tube models and modern synthesized models, his results were

noise floor than the modern receivers. Helms attributed the difference to the inter-
nal spurii from the digital circuitry used in the modem receivers.
