Gardens add a natural flair to your Minecraft world, but creating them is quite a bit different from creating buildings. Plant life follows different rules than building blocks (such as cobblestone) follow. This chapter shows you how to find and gather the proper materials and build gardens of any sort.

Obtaining Plants

Minecraft has many different nature-themed blocks that you can collect and add to your garden — and unlike with stone or metal, you can find most of them aboveground. However, many plants can be found only in certain biomes — specific geographic areas such as plains or forests. So although you don’t have to go underground, you do have to do a lot of exploring to find them.
