When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
14.2 WHY FILES?
When we work on a computer, data and programs are stored in RAM. RAM is a volatile memory device. Hence, when we switch off the power, the data as well as the program is lost. When we start the computer next time, we may want to run the program again. However, it is not there in the memory. Therefore, we require a non-volatile memory. It keeps our programs and data, even when the power is switched off. In computers, hard disks and CDs represent the non-volatile memory. The data and programs are kept on them in a form of file. That is why the study of files becomes very important.
