So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
What Is XML?
XML, which is controlled by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) (Figure 9.1), was created with several goals in mind:
To be a regulated standard, not the proprietary technology of any one company
To act as a highly flexible way to store nearly any type of information
To be easily readable by humans and usable by computers
To be able to check itself for validity and integrity
