Selecting Shutter Speed
I focused on the eyes of this newt at a reasonably fast shutter speed
with little depth of field to isolate the eyes. At 1/250 of a second, I
knew I didn’t have to worry too much about slight motions on the
part of the subject. I used my flash in fill mode to “fill in” the shadow
areas, creating an overall translucent effect.
200mm f/4 macro lens, 1/250 of a second using on-camera fill flash at
f/5.6 and ISO 200, tripod mounted.
