Many people with photographic (or eidetic) memories are slightly nuts. At least, that is the way they are portrayed often in our modern culture in films and books, and on TV. The character of Raymond Babbit (in the film ‘Rain Man’) was based on a man who was autistic and almost non-functional in his youth apart from his treatment regimen. But, he could memorize prodigious amounts of text information, memorizing sometimes as many as 8 books a day. Lisbeth Salander, the main character in Stieg Larsson.s Millenium Trilogy, was characterized as a girl with a photographic memory who thinks she is a freak.
