Modeling for Product Release Planning

5.1 Introduction

Modeling is an art. It is the art of describing essential parts of reality for the purpose of its further analysis. Depending on what we hope to achieve and also depending on the data and information available, the models will be more or less detailed.

The mere formulation of a problem is far more essential than its solution, which may be merely a matter of mathematical or experimental skills. To raise new questions (and), new possibilities, to regard old problems from a new angle, requires creative imagination and marks real advances in science.
