by Brian Knight, Allan Mitchell, Darren Green, Douglas Hinson, Kathi Kellenberger, Andy Leonard, Erik Veerman, Jason Gerard, Haidong Ji, Mike Murphy
10.5. Summary
Working from the high level of comparing the Control Flow and Data Flow, you have slowly drilled into the core details of the engine with the overall net effect of seeing how data is processed in Integration Services from the inside out. To be sure, this is not the end of the book, nor the end of the engine's story! Although there has been a sense of application throughout this chapter, the focus has mostly been on understanding the Integration Service's engine.
The next step is to take the understanding and turn it into application. In the next chapter, your focus will turn to bringing this knowledge to bear on your designs. You will look at overall design considerations and optimization to take advantage of the Integration Services engine's architecture.
