Chapter 10. Understanding the Integration Services Engine
In this chapter, you will dive under the hood of Integration Services to consider the architecture of the engine and its components, including the following concepts:
Control Flow and Data Flow comparison
Data Flow transformation types
Advanced workflow concepts in the Control Flow
Data Flow buffer architecture and execution trees
Monitoring Data Flow execution
Some of the discussions in this chapter are more abstract and theoretical, but you will start from a high level and work your way to the details of understanding SSIS. In the next chapter, you will take the knowledge you have developed here and bring it to application, considering a methodology to optimization and looking at a few real-world scenarios.
