Une vue de collection (UICollectionView) est une UIScrollView qui généralise la notion de vue de tableau(chapitre 8). Là où une vue de tableau a des lignes, une vue de collection a des éléments. (UICollectionView étend IndexPath pour que tu puisses te référer à sa propriété item au lieu de sa propriété row, bien qu'elles soient en fait interchangeables).
Si tu remplaces mentalement les éléments par des lignes, tu constateras que, connaissant les vues de table, tu sais déjà beaucoup de choses sur les vues de collection :

Les éléments sont représentés par des cellules réutilisables. Il s'agit d'instances de UICollectionViewCell. Si la vue de collection est instanciée à partir d'un storyboard, tu peux obtenir des cellules réutilisables à partir du storyboard ; sinon, tu enregistreras une classe ou une nib avec la vue de collection.

Une vue de collection peut regrouper ses éléments en sections.

Une vue de collection possède une source de données (UICollectionViewDataSource) et un délégué (UICollectionViewDelegate), et elle va poser trois grandes questions à la source de données :

Alternativement, à partir d'iOS 13, tu peux utiliser une UICollectionViewDiffableDataSource.
