I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

A service would have little benefit if you had no way to schedule or control the timing of the tasks it needed to perform. In the previous chapter, Chapter 11, the service waited on incoming connections, so scheduling was not a problem. In many cases, services will perform one or more tasks not based on a request but instead based on a polling action—the service waits for something to occur and then reacts.
