If you want to create a budget within QuickBooks, you need a Plus or Advanced subscription. Budgets are typically projections of revenues and expenses for the coming year. QuickBooks allows you to choose from that type of budget, known as a Profit and Loss budget, or you can forecast assets, liabilities, and cash flow by way of a Balance Sheet budget. As the year rolls on, actual results can be compared to a budget to monitor whether things are going as planned. Budgets can be based on current or prior fiscal year actual results or started from scratch. Budget numbers can be entered directly into QuickBooks or imported from a spreadsheet template. From there, the Budget Overview and Budgets vs. Actual reports enable you to keep tabs on your financial prognostication. ...
