About ten years ago, I gave a speech in Philadelphia to the annual conference of the Association for Women in Communications about the importance of loving your work. That was the year the folding stage collapsed under the keynoter, Jane Pauley, causing her and a 90-year-old woman to fall in a heap on top of each other. (The stage just couldn’t take the shifting weight of 75 women who had politely lined up for her autograph over the previous 20 minutes.)
