When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Using Ping
Ping is a utility available on both Red Hat Linux 6 and Microsoft Windows that tests basic low-level network functionality. If you can ping a host, you know that the basic network communication with that host is functioning (although you don't know much about what higher-level services might be available on the host).
On the other hand, if ping does not show communication with the host, you can be pretty sure you have a basic networking problem.
To ping a host from Linux:
1. | At the command prompt, type ping followed by the domain or IP address of the host you want to ping. For example, type
ping www.bearhome.com |
2. | Press Enter.
