I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
9.9 Integration Point Latency
Every communication with another system entails a certain amount of latency. A remote call takes at least 1,000 times as long as a local call. Whether that remote call is via DCOM, CORBA, web services, or a binary socket protocol, the caller will sit around doing nothing while waiting for a response. The caller must be processing some transaction, or it wouldn’t be calling. Therefore, you know the caller takes at least as long to respond as the remote system.
