So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
10.2 Use Caching Carefully
Caching can be a powerful response to a performance problem. It can reduce the load on the database server and cut response times to a fraction of what they would be without caching. When misused, however, caching can create new problems.
The maximum memory usage of all application-level caches should be configurable. Caches that do not limit maximum memory consumption will eventually eat away at the memory available for the system.
