CHAPTER 11Rethinking your talent model for an agentic world
Let’s peek into our (near?) agentic future. John is a supply chain planner at an automotive OEM. His job is to provide a reliable supply of cars to dealers in light of demand and supply uncertainties. Colleen is a product manager and she is currently in the middle of a new product launch. We are catching them as they start their day, as shown in Exhibit 11.1.
EXHIBIT 11.1
While this future is not yet reality, this could be possible with currently available technologies. In this agentic world, the job of John and Colleen would be radically different than what they are today. As the technology matures, John and Colleen could take on more, and more complex, tasks at increasingly higher productivity levels.
The next decade will be the one of operating leverage—more revenues per employees—across every industry. How fast businesses can react will increasingly differentiate winning organizations.
For the first time, companies must now plan for “AI colleagues” working alongside people (you can learn about the various AI agent types and their capabilities in Chapter 5).
