Episode 115 of the megahit show Friends, circa 1999, is called, “The One Where Rachel Smokes.” Jennifer Aniston’s character, Rachel, is at her first day of a new job at Ralph Lauren when she realizes that her boss and her colleague head out for a cigarette every time there’s an important decision to make. Rachel even gets up the courage and goes outside to try to join them, but they don’t want to blow smoke in her face, so to speak, so they move away, leaving her standing awkwardly alone. And totally left out of the loop. Talk about FOMO!
