Getting Started
Schematically, the chest, abdomen, and pelvis can be represented as three stacked rectangles. The same is true for the upper arms, the forearms, and the hands. The proportions of these rectangles vary depending on gender and age.
First draw the head and the neck, as we have already discussed, then draw the three rectangles of the torso.
1. Draw the first rectangle, which represents the shoulders and the chest. It should be just slightly trapezoidal, and it is wider for a man, narrower for a woman or a child. For a woman, emphasize the trapezoidal aspect.
