As we described in chapter 6, the Agile Release Train (ART) is the primary organizational and value delivery construct in SAFe. Composed primarily of Agile teams, ARTs are organized around the enterprise’s value streams and exist solely to realize the promise of that value by building solutions that deliver business benefit. As such, ARTs are long-lived and run continuously. These trains don’t start and stop at any destination. Consequently, they must be sufficiently cross-functional so as to be able to continuously explore, execute, and release value within a Program Increment (PI) timebox.
