Abstract

Will machines be surpassed by human intelligence? Will automation take away jobs from humans? Or even more terrible, will machines be able to take over humans? These are some of the many questions that come to mind when talking about today’s emerging network technologies: social, mobile, analytics and cloud (SMAC). Technology is changing more rapidly than ever and so is life! The daily life of humans has become more sophisticated because of technological advancements, but these advancements also pose challenges which have implications for society such as algorithmic bias, privacy breach, data breach, etc. This chapter will present the various effects of SMAC on society and possible solutions to any privacy-related problems.
