To keep you informed of events and information related to your tablet, Windows 8 displays notifications, so you need to understand what they are and how to handle them.
As you work with your tablet, certain events and conditions will display a notification on the screen. For example, you might add an appointment to the Calendar app and ask the app to remind you about it. Similarly, someone might send you a text message, or you might insert a USB flash drive, and Windows 8 will question what you want to do with its contents.
