Hairdressers work on all aspects of hair styling, including cutting, styling, perming, straightening, colouring, applying highlights and incorporating hair extensions or other hairpieces. Salons or individual stylists may specialise in male or female hairdressing, or a niche market such as colouring, Afro-Caribbean or ethnic hairstyles. As a junior stylist in training, you may have to help out with other work in the salon, washing hair, booking appointments, cleaning and tidying.
