YOUTH OFFENDING TEAM OFFICER
Youth offending team officers (YOTs) work for local authorities. Their work is concerned with trying to stop young people committing crimes or to prevent those who have already committed offences from reoffending. The work is very varied and YOTs work with young offenders right from the stage where they may have to appear in court through to supporting them after they have been released from secure institutions. As a YOT you might have to prepare sentence reports for the courts. You could be supervising young offenders who have received non-custodial sentences, which they must serve in the community.
