This volume arose out of our interest in what has been a neglected area of study in management. While the general subject of leadership has received a great deal of attention, charismatic leadership has remained a stepchild. This is ironic, since charismatic leaders are among the most profound in terms of their impact not only on nations and religions but on businesses and industries. Historically, these leaders have been the drivers of change and transformation at both societal and organizational levels. Yet they have been consistently overlooked in the world of management.
