Buddy, Can You Spare a Dime? Pre-Production
You’ve got an idea. You’ve written it out. You’re ready to start preparing to make your film. This process is called pre-production, and almost all of the work here falls under what is considered “producing.”
Pre-production includes financing your film, creating a visual design, and hiring your cast and crew. You’ll notice that this section of the book is the longest. There’s a reason for that. The more prepared you are before you begin shooting your film, the smoother the next two phases (production and post-production) will go.
Films take a lot of planning. So let’s get started!
