I don’t get a lot of sleep. Breaking my habit, I wake at 5:12 full of energy—and after many weeks of turbulence, finally with a plan. It’s still dark outside, the sun doesn’t rise until 7:30 or so, but I sneak out from the covers, pulling on my gym shorts and sneakers. I creak the door open, carefully trying not to wake Heidi.
