15. IN-CAMERA TIME-LAPSE

CREATING A TIME-LAPSE used to take a lot of work. You had to shoot many individual frames and later combine them all into a movie with special software. Many cameras now allow you to create a time-lapse right in the camera. This makes it a lot easer to experiment with time-lapse photography, especially if you’re shooting in low light.

The in-camera time-lapse feature allows you to put in the variables, and then creates the time-lapse movie after the last frame is shot (Figure 15.1). For example, if you use a frame rate of 30 FPS and you want to create a 30-second movie, you will have to take 900 frames (30 × 30 = 900). ...
