THE MAIN ISSUE that arises when you shoot action or scenic photos in low light is digital noise, or at least it used to be. Newer cameras produce much less noise at higher ISOs than they used to. However, even with the amazing advancements in camera technology, there are still times when you will want to reduce the digital noise in your images, and that is when Adobe Photoshop can really help you out.

In Figures 44.1 and 44.2 you can see the same scene photographed with the newer Nikon D750 and the older Nikon D2X, respectively. Notice that the image taken with the D750 has much less digital noise.
