JUST ABOUT EVERY image needs some contrast adjustment. This is especially true for images shot at high ISOs or long exposures. There are many different methods for adjusting the contrast and exposure of images in Photoshop; in fact, there are whole books written on just this subject. In this section, I cover the basic steps I use to adjust the exposure and contrast of my images in Adobe Camera Raw, as well as how I use the dodge and burn tools, which are a throwback to working in the darkroom.
