In this chapter we will take what we learned of composing musical ideas, and explore ways to arrange them for various ensembles. We will begin by covering basic textures often found in game music, and then we will move on to an overview of the orchestral instruments. Once we have a better idea of the orchestral instruments and how they function we will cover template building. We will then analyze some practical orchestration techniques for acoustic and synthetic instruments. Finally, we will share a brief overview of some alternative arranging styles found in games.
