ABOUT INSTITUTE FOR THE FUTURE
Institute for the Future (IFTF) was founded in 1968 by a group of former RAND Corporation and Stanford Research Institute scientists and engineers. Bob Johansen was the first PhD-level social scientist hired by IFTF, five years after it was founded.
The Institute is located in downtown Palo Alto, in the heart of Silicon Valley and adjacent to Stanford University. It conducts ongoing foundational forecasts that focus on global commerce, technology horizons, food, the future of work, and well-being. IFTF partners with a wide range of companies and individuals for its ongoing foundational forecasts.
In addition, IFTF conducts custom forecasts that apply the foundation forecasts to a particular organization.
