When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Saving Time with Templates
Here’s an example of how saving a template can save time. When I print a photo, I often like to sharpen it and then add a border, a stroke around the image, and my name at the bottom. Although I could create an Action to do all this, I find it easier to create a document that takes advantage of Smart Object technology. To do this:
1. Create a new document in the size and resolution needed for printing.
2. Choose File > Place to import a photo into the document. For this example, I used a Camera Raw file so it opens first in Camera Raw. After making any necessary adjustments, I click OK. This creates a Smart Object.
3. Size the photo so you have an appropriate border around the outside.
