Turnaround Defined

A turnaround can be defined as ‘a complete change from a bad situation to a good situation, from one way of thinking to an opposite way of thinking’ (1). This concept is synonymous with a reversal, improvement, transformation, new direction and the like. Are leadership turnarounds an easy proposition? Can any leader successfully lead an operational turnaround or are special skills required? Can turnaround outcomes serve as both a career ender and a career accelerator?
