Several years ago I was visiting some friends in Costa Rica. I had helped support their church there for quite some time, and they wanted me to come and meet the congregation. As I visited individual church members in their homes, I noticed more and more televisions had appeared in each home compared with when I was there a few years earlier. When I spoke to the congregation, I encouraged them not to copy all the ways of the postmodern world. I shared with them that they still had the one thing people in more developed countries longed for—genuine community.
