DIRECT-TO-CAMERA DELIVERY USING NON-ACTORS is not for the faint of heart. I once directed an educational mini-doc on teenage drinking in which a teen counselor was to be a featured interviewee. My plan was for her to serve as narrative glue and developmental context for the teen interviews, which were held with high-schoolers who ranged from non-drinkers to heavy drinkers.
