Production management is a necessary component that supports the different musical genres and large variety of special events and projects. As we have seen, production managers play an integral role in the artistic process, and the same tools and training are required in the world of production managing for symphony orchestras.
Most major national and international cites have a large, multi-million dollar budget symphony orchestra and, depending on the season, can perform up to 50 weeks a year. The Los Angeles Philharmonic, the San Diego Symphony and the San Francisco Symphony are just a few organizations on the West Coast that employ full-time production managers and have a very busy production team.
