Networking. Communication. Compassion. Risk taking. I learned many of these skills from my parents as they molded me to be a good person, but I also learned a good deal from great friends such as Cary and Jay, the authors of this book. I am a huge fan of both of them and the institute that brought us together, the United States Institute for Theater Technology (USITT). USITT is indeed my second family; they are my friends who push me to continually learn, to be better and to believe in myself. The genesis of this book began out of that family.
