Reward reviews (sometimes referred to as audits) identify and assess what is being done about reward: internally in the shape of reward policies and practices, and externally by reference to evidence on reward and wider trends and developments. The outcome of a review might be the realization that a reward strategy (see Tool 2) or total rewards framework (see Tool 3) needs to be developed, or simply to focus on specific areas of reward. In either case a reward review should confirm the direction of change and the guiding principles for design and implementation.
