Trusting the Roots
In order for any platform to be trustworthy, at least part of the platform must be trustworthy. The main idea behind TCPA is to gradually expand trust from trusted components to other components.
As highlighted in Chapter 3, the TCPA Main Specification [TCPA 2001a] is deliberately abstract because it defines a TCPA Trusted Subsystem (as introduced in Chapter 1) in terms of its properties and is therefore implementation-independent. TCPA intentionally partitions functions into things that have to be trusted if the TCPA Subsystem is to be trusted and things that do not have to be trusted if the TCPA Subsystem is to be trusted.
