En este capítulo, hablaremos de una importante herramienta que forma parte de las visualizaciones básicas en Power BI: el slicer. Se trata de un elemento utilitario, es decir, que no visualiza datos en sí, sino que permite filtrar los gráficos del cuadro de mando en función de un campo seleccionado. En la práctica, ningún informe de Power BI está completo sin las rebanadoras.
La conversación sobre las cortadoras cobra relevancia cuando tenemos al menos un gráfico que queremos filtrar. Por defecto, cualquier cortador filtra todos los elementos visuales que tengan datos relacionados, incluidos otros cortadores. Demostraremos cómo influir en esta opción más adelante, pero por ahora, vamos a entender cómo construir cortadoras y los distintos tipos que pueden ser.
En la Figura 9-1, se presenta un fragmento de un cuadro de mando con un slicer para países. Tras seleccionar Gran Bretaña en el slicer, los gráficos de la derecha muestran las ventas por categorías y la dinámica mensual de ventas en ese país.
