So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Configuring and managing vCenter Server
If the user wants to configure the appliance for the first time, he/she must first accept the EULA when using vSphere 5.x. Then, the vCenter Server Appliance is chosen and configured with the default settings. Once the settings have been saved, the appliance can be started.
Following are the steps that must be followed in order to configure the vCenter Server Appliance:
- Accept the End-User License Agreement (EULA)
- Select Configure with Default Settings
- Define the database settings; select the integrated vPostgres database or apply valid connection settings for an external Oracle Database instance. Note that the integrated database is not supported for large environments in vSphere 5.5.
